Gathering stone can be tedious, so make sure you get oil pumps at some point, they allow you to produce fuel which powers mining drills that will produce both stones and ores. The table saw can greatly reduce the grind because it will give you 3 wood planks for each wood log you turn into. To access the higher tiers of crafting you want a crafting table and later on a CNC table. You are also able to build turrets that will automatically shoot other players on sight. Many players figured out that having multiple levels of defense can greatly discourage raiders. To prevent other players from stealing you should build at least 2-4 foundations and cover them with palisades. The basic steps are gathering some wood and stones and finding a suitable place for building. It's recommended that you learn the basics of building, conquering and surviving. A lot of code has been rewritten from scratch to improve performance and to incorporate the new UI into the game. With the new game-world the game also received a new UI and updated game-mechanics. It took us quite longer as so many drastic changes involved forced us also to update/replace a lot of the games main code.

This update is one of the biggest Beasts of Prey has ever received. Fixed a glitch that prevented you from destroying hostile structures.
Metal Safe is immune to flag ownership changes. Turrets are immune to ownership changes. Doors are now public without a flag in their area. C4 can be freely placed in order to destroy structures. Structures without flags can be burned by everyone. Structure ownership is based on the flag in it's area. Hotkeys are no longer active when the chat is active. Destroying flags with c4 will no longer spawn a foundation. Scrollbar of the Loot Window is no longer centered. Adjusted Dinosaur behaviour to be more aggressive. Fixed some stones you could previously walk through. Building a new one results in the old one de-spawning. You can have only 1 metal safe at the time. You can no longer craft PvP items on the PvE server. You can no longer spawn turrets and C4 on the PvE server. Fixed a bug that prevented you sometimes to spawn properly. Fixed a glitch where the mouse disappeared in the main-menu (when going back to Lobby) Slightly nerfed view-range of cannibals (from 90m to 70m). Always last logout position now unless you die.
Servers now save logout position upon restart, so you no longer spawn elsewhere. Increased chat fade away time from 5 to 8 seconds. Fixed escape key / ui flickering issue. To split an stack simply drag it onto an empty slot while holding LEFT SHIFT. Logout button returns to lobby instead of quitting the game. Fixed a collider that was too large on a tree.

So here are the patch notes from the last 3 weeks.
Someone mentioned that there are not enough updates coming in and while we patched the game 12 times in 3 days i noticed that there wasn't any announcement posted for those patches. Fixed several bugs that have been reported through our forums. All players will now spawn more or less in the same area. XP for picking up stone has been doubled. The amount of wood gathered when picking up a woodlog has been tripled. The amount of stone gathered when picking up a rock has been tripled. Change to pickup ore from stones has been increased from 4% to 10%. You can now craft engines (needed for vehicles). You can now craft tires which is required to built a car.
The client now supports the Oculus Rift DK2 and higher natively. Both server and client have been updated to Unity 5.1

In addition the game engine has been updated to Unity 5.1 which now comes with full native Oculus Rift Support. All servers have been wiped and gathering wood/stone has been made much easier. The first vehicle is the Buggy N300, which is little off-road buggy that comes with 1 passenger seat. With this update we are adding cars to the game which you now can craft through gathering and assembling materials.
